October 14, 2010: The City of Owen Sound Cultural Award for Theatre was presented to Sheatre for our 25 year achievement in making community arts in the city and region. "It feels like the Oscars!" said Joan Chandler. "This home town recognition touches me very deeply. I've been so privileged to be able to do this art for so long, and appreciate the support of everyone who has made it possible over the years."
September 25, 2010: Joan Chandler receives the inaugural Phil Hartman Arts and Humanitarian Award. This lifetime achievement award recognizes "Amor, Ars, Humanitas" (love, arts, humanity). The award is a unique wooden box that encloses a Magic Eight Ball among other items very personal to Phil. (When shaken, the eight ball provides answers questions .) "I feel very honoured by this -- awed actually," says Joan, "And it's very cool to be able to talk to Phil."

Soul Cages tells the story of a cynical young woman who has recently lost her loved ones at sea, and discovers that she must seduce and outwit the immortal King of the Irish merpeople who keeps the souls of the drowned.
Joan travelled with her husband and daughter to Knocklofty House, Ireland, to attend the festival and was surprised and thrilled when the award was announced.
